Derek and I had been great friends since the early 60’s. We used to tear around on our bikes together; Brands Hatch being a favourite destination; how we survived I don’t know! Derek didn’t know the word ‘slow’ and I was always the chaser. After the bikes came 4 wheels, much safer but still Derek didn’t know ‘slow’ and I was still the chaser. As time went on, we matured somewhat and became involved in such things as home DIY etc. Derek was an expert in such things and would always offer help, never asking for anything in return. He really was one of the best and I will miss him terribly, I can’t believe he gone. Thoughts are with his family and friends at this very sad time. Rest in peace Derek, you’ll never be forgotten.
